All of our Instructors are qualified Beach Lifeguards, hold an Irish Surfing Association Surf Coach Level one (or international equivalent) and have completed Sport Ireland's Safeguarding One, code of ethics and children in sport course. These are only the minimum requirements! Many of our crew have continued to add to their achivements with many holding qualifications such as Surf Coach Level two, Occupational First Aid and some even studying the Outdoors at Third Level. Our Instructors joined the Oceanics Family at a young age, with many starting in the Kids Club/Summer Camps, then moving onto becoming Trainee Instructors, as part of our in-house programme. The Oceanics core values of Customer Care, Fun and Safety are instilled into every member of the Oceanics Crew.
We operate a ratio of 8 students to 1 instructor but where children's lessons are concerned we have a tendency to add extra helpers to the lesson (trainee instructors) accompanying senior instructors into the water. Paul (our Operations Manager), has been part of Tramore RNLI for over 35 years, his knowledge of the sea has allowed him to devise our unique Safety Plan, to which all of our activites adhere with percision. However, our strict safety protocol will never effect our promise to provide a thrilling, fun experince to every one of our customers!
All lessons are held in waist depth water so your children do not have to be very strong swimmers. Confidence in the water is all that's necessary!! Children are supervised both in and out of the water at all times.
